Well, who could have seen this coming?
The Packers and Aaron Rodgers have had an awkward middle-school dance with one another this offseason, with his future in a Packers uniform murky.
On Monday, Green Bay GM Brian Gutenkunst left no doubt to where Rodgers will be in 2021 — and perhaps beyond that.
“Aaron’s our guy. He’s going to be our quarterback for the foreseeable future,” Gutekunst said, via ProFootballTalk.
While reports of a potential contract restructuring with Rodgers and the Packers surfaced earlier in the year, a new deal has yet to be forged, leaving some speculation as to whether Rodgers will actually be signing a contract extension rather than a simple restructured deal.
The Packers drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, leaving the soon-to-be sophomore passer in limbo if Rodgers is, as Gutekunst says, there for the foreseeable future.
Still, if the whole football thing doesn’t work out for Rodgers, at least he’ll have “Jeopardy!”
