Netflix now charges to share account or passwords of the streaming profile with other viewers. Sharing accounts on Netflix has made using the streaming service cost-free for some users with features like “Separate Profiles” and “Multiple Viewing” in the Standard and Premium subscription plans.
According to Netflix’s page, sharing Netflix accounts has indeed made streaming movies accessible to almost everyone as a huge population of people has embraced it. But it has also created some sort of problems about when and how Netflix’s accounts can be shared.
Why This?
Netflix has over 222 million subscribers in a world with nearly 8 billion people. Look around you, make inquiries, almost everyone can boast of a Netflix account. The Maths doesn’t just add up.
“As a result, accounts are being shared between households – impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films for our members”.
While sharing your Netflix account with friends and family is great; you have to understand that it means more loss than gain for the streaming platform.
Furthermore, due to sharing Netflix passwords, most accounts get hacked and are sold for a very little amount or even given out free. This can also give the hacker or buyer access to your card info or personal info registered to your Netflix account. Thus in some ways, these new charges are really a good thing.

How does it Work?
“So for the last year, we’ve been working on ways to enable members who share outside their household to do so easily and securely, while also paying a bit more.”
You can share, but there will be a little fee to your normal subscription charges.
Netflix also said that when a device outside of your location signs into your account time and time again, the owner of the account will be asked to verify that device before it can be used to stream Netflix. This way you won’t be surprised when you get an additional “sharing account” fee.
Netflix Additional Features
Netflix plans to launch two new features associated with the news over the next few weeks in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. This feature will be extended to other parts of the world soon.
Add an Extra Member
Standard and premium subscription plan members will be able to add sub-accounts for up to two people outside their location. Unlike before, these subs will have their own profile, unique recommendations, and sign-in details.
Transfer Profile to New Account
Basic, Standard, and Premium users can enable people who share their accounts to transfer their subs profile information to a newly created account. Or the Extra member sub-account like we just talked about in the sub-topic above. Netflix is just making it easier to make users adjust to these new changes.
