The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old ex-convict, Taiwo Sunmomu, for armed theft about 4 months after he was launched from jail for committing the same crime.
Spokesperson of the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a press release on Sunday, March 14, mentioned the ex-convict and a few members of his gang had invaded Ijanikin space of the state and had been robbing residents earlier than he was arrested by the police.
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Taiwo Sunmonu, m, 23, on 13th March, 2021 at 11.30pm, for armed theft after he was launched from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in November, 2020, having served a five-year jail time period,” Adejobi acknowledged.
“The suspect was arrested by the police operatives connected to Ijaninkin Division, whereas responding to a misery name, because the suspect and his gang members had been robbing unsuspecting Lagosians at Ajayi Avenue, Oto Awori, Ijannikin in Lagos State. However different members of the gang escaped.”
He additionally acknowledged that the suspect has confessed to the crime and different crimes he had participated in.
One locally-made pistol and dwell ammunition had been recovered from the suspect.
