Brooks Koepka added yet another entry to his ongoing drama with golf rival Bryson DeChambeau, and he used Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to deliver the blow.
After it was announced on Wednesday that Rodgers would pair up with DeChambeau in “The Match” against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady, Koepka saw an opportunity to get back at his rival, who has been getting on his nerves as of late.
Simple, efficient, witty. Good work, Koepka.
Of course, Koepka’s troll job of DeChambeau is the latest in a series of humorous run-ins between the two over the past week. Though their feud seems to have started all the way back in January 2019, it has become more prominent since the 2021 PGA Championship.
A since-deleted tweet was released on Monday showing Koepka in a post-round interview with CBS at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. Koepka, who already seemed to be agitated, had to stop his interview and close his eyes in disgust as DeChambeau walked by him. The latter reportedly said, “Maybe you should hit it on the right line” after Koepka said he found the Ocean Course “difficult to read.”
“I f— lost it,” Koepka said in the clip. “Sorry, I lost my train of thought hearing that bulls—.”
If Koepka was annoyed at the time, that agitation likely grew on Tuesday after DeChambeau posted a reaction to the video that doubled-down on his initial advice. So it’s only natural that Koepka would try to get his shots in.
Who knows what other hijinks these two get into next. We can’t wait to find out, either way.
