Boy, 12, drowns while swimming with friends in Ilorin (graphic)

A 12-year-old boy, recognized as Lekan Benjamin, on Tuesday, March 16, drowned at Asa River in Ilorin whereas swimming along with his buddies.

 

The Director of the Kwara State Hearth Service, Falade Olumuyiwa, confirmed the incident, describing it as unlucky.

 

He mentioned the incident occurred when the sufferer, a pupil of Junior Secondary Faculty, Ilorin, went swimming with a few of his classmates whereas getting back from faculty.

At about 13:21hrs on March 16, the State Hearth Service attended to the scene, at Ejiba Street, off Stadium street, Ilorin.

In response to the fireplace officers current on the scene, the sufferer, a boy from Oja-iya Space of Ilorin, was recovered lifeless from the river by the firemen and handed over to his organic father, Mr Monday Benjamin.

Falade John Olumuyiwa (CFO) consoled the household of the sufferer and suggested dad and mom to observe over their youngsters’s motion with a view to stop comparable occurrences.
